BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A youth organization that grew out of last summer’s racial equality marches in Lynden and other communities is hosting an event Thursday, March 25th.
The online event sponsored by the group Racial Unity Now – or RUN – features Angela Tucker, a young black woman from the South who was adopted by a white family in Bellingham.
Her story is the subject of the documentary “Closure” which has streamed on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime.
Saji Oommen with RUN says her story is shared by many others, noting that there are a large number of families who have adopted children from Haiti, China and other countries around the world and brought them to Whatcom County.
The two-part series featuring Angela’s story and experience on March 25th will be followed by a panel discussion on April 1st, speaking to identity and belonging from a BIPOC perspective.
