BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Lummi Nation Schools released grading guidelines for students during the quarantine.
Education Director Bernie Thomas says traditional A-F grading is suspended and students in grades 7-12 will only get an A, B or C at the end of the semester for each course.
Student transcripts will indicate classes were not taken normally, but remotely.
Thomas says they wanted to avoid putting more pressure on kids and instead wanted to let them “focus on more important things such as family and surviving this pandemic.”
The simplified grading system is similar to what Ferndale and Bellingham are doing, though they have restricted grades to either A or Incomplete.
