LYNDEN, Wash. – Lynden Christian High School students returned to in-person classes a week earlier than initially planned after a COVID-19 outbreak forced the school to close its doors.

The school made the switch to remote learning on Sept. 30th because of a high infection rate.

Superintendent Paul Bootsma says in a statement that high school students with a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours have been allowed to return to class last week, one week earlier than first expected.

The school consulted with the Whatcom County Health Department and found the move was appropriate because the high school had a lower infection rate than lower grades.

Lynden Christian expects to welcome its preschool-8th grade students back on October 13th.
