LYNDEN, Wash. – Lynden Christian Schools has released a statement about the schools’ recent COVID outbreak and transition to remote learning.
Superintendent Paul Bootsma confirms that they’ve seen a high number of COVID-19 cases and decided in was in everyone’s best interest to close the school.
He says they are thankful that there have been no serious cases connected to the schools.
The school closed Wednesday, September 29, and went to remote learning the next day.
The Whatcom County Health Department says the school has shown “limited adherence” to state COVID requirements for in-person learning.
The department says the school has seen uncontrolled disease transmission.
It’s the first time since Spring 2020 that Lynden Christian has had its entire student population learning remotely.
They had students in the classroom for the entire 2020-2021 school year with the exception of a few students and classrooms on-line for short periods.
Students will learn remotely for the next two weeks.
