LYNDEN, WASH. – A Whatcom County group home for developmentally disabled adults is closing.
Increased costs and low pay from Medicaid are the reasons Pine Street Home in Lynden is closing.
George Beanblossom, executive director of Cascade Connections, which runs the home, tells the Bellingham Herald that it’s losing $60,000 a year.
He partially blames the increased minimum wage law, but says he still supports it.
The home is one of eight that are serving 67 people in the county.
Beanblossom says they’re working to find new homes for their residents.
