BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Lynden man has been arrested following a chaotic robbery at Walmart.
BPD said that officers were called to the store around 5:30 Wednesday night after the suspect smashed a secure display case and stole a shotgun.
He then used the gun to try and break into another shelf containing ammunition.
Witnesses said that he struck the case with so much force, that parts of the gun broke off.
The suspect fled the Walmart through an emergency exit as police arrived.
Bellingham Police and Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputies later located him walking on Hannegan Rd.
He was seen throwing the stolen gun in some nearby brush before his arrest.
Police arrested 35 year old Jimmy Brashears, who remains in custody at the Whatcom County Jail.
