LYNDEN, Wash. – A Lynden man was arrested for raping a woman he knew twice while she slept.

Court documents state that the victim contacted police in April regarding the two incidents, which occurred in 2018 and 2019.

The victim said that she and the suspect, 29-year-old Visente Galvez-Cruz, had been drinking the night of the first incident in February 2018.

She woke up the next morning without any clothes on, suspecting that she had been raped in her sleep.

In December 2019, the victim said she woke up to find Galvez-Cruz sexually assaulting her.

Galvez-Cruz was arrested on May 10th and remains behind bars at the Whatcom County Jail.
