LYNDEN, Wash. – A Lynden man is loving road kill.

The Seattle Times reports Tim Bento has already collected four dead deer this year.

Bento tells KOMO that friends alert him when they see or hear of a fresh kill.

“Said ‘hey, put me in your contacts as Deer-Tim.’ It just started popping up left and right. So I jumped on one, and it was fantastic. It was like a 200 pound doe, and as a hunter, you don’t get to hunt those.”

The State Fish and Wildlife Commission changed state law last year to allow the salvage of elk and deer hit by cars.

Bento prays to express appreciation before each meal and says salvage is a more dignified end to the animal’s life.
