WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Shuksan Healthcare Center has confirmed that another one of their residents who had tested positive for COVID-19 has died.

The longtime resident in their 90s was the eighth since March 22, when the Whatcom County Health Department announced a COVID-19 outbreak at the facility.

27 residents and 23 staff members at Shuksan have tested positive for the illness.

Lynden Manor also announced that a hospice resident in his 90s passed away last night (tues) with COVID-19 and there are now 10 remaining residents there who have tested positive for the illness.

Lynden Manor says those residents are doing well and one appears to be recovering.

It’s not clear whether those deaths are included in the total count reported by the Whatcom County Health Department today (wed).

The county death toll now stands at 20 as of 4/8/2020.

Three new coronavirus related illnesses are also confirmed, bringing that number to 241.
