LYNDEN, Wash. — It shouldn’t be a surprise that Lynden ranks among the safest cities in Washington.

Online consumer advocacy group SafeWise looked at crime data and found Lynden is the fifth safest city in the state, with less than one violent crime and fewer than ten property crimes per one thousand residents.

Lynden was the only Whatcom County city that made the list.

Two Skagit County cities also made the rankings: Sedro-Woolley at seventh and Anacortes at thirteenth.

SafeWise says Washington is a pretty safe state as well, with a crime rate that’s 23% lower than the national average.
