BELLINGHAM, WASH. – When it comes to the best place to raise kids, Bellingham is nowhere near the top of the list.
However, in a WalletHub report ranking “2017’s Best Places to Raise a Family in Washington State,” Lynden breaks in at number 18.
Jill Gonzalez with WalletHub there were a number of reasons why Lynden made it into the Top 20.
“Very low crime rate, great health care accessibility and options, a lot of pediatricians and a really good education system. High test scores, a great graduation rate when we’re talking about high school, that’s where Lynden really shines,” Gonzalez says.
She says they looked at various factors including family life, education, health and others in order to rank the cities.
Out of 111 cities in the state, Bellingham comes in at 78 with a particularly low score in affordability.
WalletHub ranks West Richland number one in the state.
