BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A magazine that’s chronicled the Bellingham music scene for more than 2 decades is no more.

Founder and publisher Brent Cole has decided that he won’t revive What’s Up from its pandemic-related hiatus.

He began printing What’s Up in 1998.

What’s Up publicized countless bands and their music over the years, and given many budding writers a start to their careers.

But Cole says the pandemic coupled with growing challenges to print media became too much to continue.

He hopes someone can continue the magazine’s mission in some other form.
