BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man faces multiple charges after assaulting a woman who had a restraining order against him, stealing her car and leading police on a chase.

Bellingham Police Lieutenant Claudia Murphy says 23-year-old Jordan G. Pickett was driving the woman’s car with her in the passenger seat early Monday when they argued.

He threatened to have another woman beat her up then took her phone and prevented her from getting out of the car.

At one point he put her in a headlock, but she was able to get away to a business near Bellis Fair Mall and call 911.

Pickett left with her car and led officers on a nine mile chase before stopping near Old Samish Road.

He was arrested without incident.
