EVERETT, Wash. — The trial began Thursday for a man charged with murdering a former Whatcom County couple that had moved to Oso.
The Daily Herald reports 55-year-old John Reed is accused of fatally shooting Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude in 2016.
Investigators say Reed and his brother hid the bodies on a remote logging road and fled to Mexico.
Reed was the couple’s neighbor and police believe a property feud led to the murder.
Reed’s brother pled guilty to helping hide the bodies and showed police the grave site.
