BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man with a lengthy record tried to elude Bellingham police and assaulted an officer while being arrested Tuesday night.

A police report states that an officer observed Barry Green Jr. driving in the Cordata neighborhood just before midnight.

The officer was familiar with Green and was aware that Green’s license was suspended.

The officer tried to pull him over but he sped off, driving recklessly and running red lights.

He eventually pulled behind an apartment building on Birchwood Avenue and hid behind a hedge.

Officers located him and he tried to run, slamming a female officer to the ground.

She was able to grab his legs and other officers subdued Green as he continued to struggle.
