WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The gears of justice are slowly turning for a crime that takes just seconds to commit.

A man arrested in 2019 for running a catalytic converter theft ring in Whatcom County has just been sentenced after pleading guilty.

Court records state that investigators arrested Shawn Bannon after one of his accomplices confessed and became an informant for police.

He told investigators that Bannon had a “crew of thieves” that he would direct on how and when to steal the devices and then pay them cash.

Bannon will serve a day less than a full year in the Whatcom County Jail.
