SHELTON, Wash. (AP) – A fight over a dead raccoon lead to a shooting near Shelton in Mason County on Sunday.
County Sheriff’s spokesman Travis Adams tells KOMO the strange incident began with a man dragging the racoon as he walked.
“It was a roadkill animal, and he was going to use it in his crab traps for crab fishing. Basically, it smelled so bad that he was pulling it behind him with a rope, so that he could get it home to his traps.”
He says two cars stopped and the people inside confronted the man because they thought he was dragging a dead dog.
One shot him twice in the leg and took off.
Police are still looking for him.
