MAPLE FALLS, Wash. — A man arrested a month ago for trying to disarm an Everson officer was arrested again Saturday on suspicion of vehicle theft.

Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks says at about 4:00 in the afternoon a Maple Falls man left his car unlocked and running in his driveway while he checked his mail, at which point another man jumped in and drove off.

The car was found unoccupied about an hour later on Golden Valley Drive without the key, and not long after deputies went to arrest a man they suspected of being the thief on Kendall Road.

Parks says the man, who identified himself as Jake Kingston, shoved the arresting deputy away and ran, but he was soon caught and deputies say they found the key to the stolen vehicle in Kingston’s pocket.

Deputies say Kingston admitted he was high on heroin and meth.
