MAPLE FALLS, Wash. – Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Maple Falls man on a number of charges after he attempted to burn down his family’s house.
Deputies responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 8900 block of Golden Valley Drive at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11th.
Witnesses said 39-year-old Edgar Asencio assaulted two family members, then poured gasoline on the attic floor and himself.
He then threatened to light both himself and the house on fire.
He punched one deputy and pushed another but three officers were able to take him into custody.
Deputies found two half-full gas cans in the attic with gas poured between them.
