Ferndale, WASH. — A March for Black Lives is planned for this Friday in Ferndale.

Organizers say masks are required at the event at Ferndale High School from 4-7 p.m.

They say they are demanding change and they want the police of Whatcom County to acknowledge police violence as a major issue across the country.

The City of Ferndale is aware of the rally and officials say they have not issued a permit as gatherings of over five people are not currently allowed in Whatcom County under Phase 2 of the Safe Start plan.

They ask participants to stay safe, obey laws and assemble peacefully.

Local police will be on site to monitor the situation and take action if needed.
