The Seattle Mariners have recalled right-handed pitcher Dan Altavilla from AAA Tacoma. Seattle also placed relief pitcher Tony Zych on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow flexor bundle strain. Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto announced the roster moves Tuesday.
It’s the fourth stint with Seattle this season for Altavilla. Overall, he is 1-1 with a 5.46 ERA with 36 strikeouts and 14 walks in 29 relief appearances during his previous three stretches with the Mariners. The 24-year-old is 1-0 with 6 saves and a 1.61 ERA in 19 games overall with Tacoma.
Zych is 6-3 with 1 save and a 2.66 ERA in 45 games with Seattle this season. The 26-year-old has held opponents scoreless in 35 of his 45 appearances, and has allowed more than 1 run in only 1 game this season.
