Bellingham, Wash.- There was a live marriage proposal during the KGMI coverage of the 2018 Ski to Sea race.
Mandy Brassfield competed in the downhill ski leg for the Whatcom 7 Firefighters team #312. After she crossed the finish line at 8:02 am on Sunday, she got a wonderful surprise.
Mandy’s partner Jess popped the question and asked her to be her wife. Mandy said yes and we witnessed a lovely marriage proposal at the top of the 2018 Ski to Sea race.
Jess was able to surprise Mandy, who had previously believed that she might ask later in the month during their trip to Alaska. Both partners purchased rings for each other, and their family from Alaska traveled down to Whatcom County to bear witness to this exciting milestone.
Both Mandy and Jess are first responders and residents of Bellingham, WA.
