BELLINGHAM, Wash. – May Day 2017 was peaceful in Bellingham for the most part.
A rally at City Hall kicked off the day’s events.
It was followed by a march through downtown that angered some because it blocked streets at times, causing traffic backups.
The marched ended at Cornwall Park with another rally.
Edgar Franks with Bellingham’s farm worker rights group, Community to Community Development, said the march included a diverse crowd.
“It’s a beautiful thing,” Franks said.
The evening wrapped up with a free dinner picnic courtesy of the Whatcom-Skagit Industrial Workers of the World.
