BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville and City Council President Roxanne Murphy have sent a letter to all four of our federal representatives urging them to support legislation that would ban the government from separating immigrant families.
The letter quotes denunciations from the United Nations human rights office, Catholic bishops and the American Psychological Association, who said the separation of children from their parents under Trump Administration policy is damaging to the families.
Linville says on her Facebook page that, so far, they’ve heard from Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Suzan DelBene who have pledged their support for legislation that would ban the practice.
