BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The City of Bellingham wants to relocate Northwest Recycling to make room for more housing in Old Town.
Parberry’s Inc. operates Northwest Recycling in several blocks along Holly, Astor and C Streets in Bellingham and city officials are considering entering into a development agreement to relocate the industrial business.
Mayor Kelli Linville praised the Parberry family for their contributions to the community and sent City Council a recommendation to support the multi-million dollar project.
Her vision is to eventually have about 1,000 housing units and up to 400,000 square feet of commercial space in Old Town.
Bellingham’s community and economic development manager Tara Sundin says, “Old Town has the ‘bones’ that make it an ideal candidate to transition from what it is today into a healthy and active neighborhood.”
