BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Mayor of Bellingham is pausing the proposed Climate Action Fund ballot measure.

Seth Fleetwood says the pause will avoid having a climate measure on the ballot that would compete with other important measures.

But he says the city is still committed to the critical job of making progress on climate change.

A public hearing on the proposal has been cancelled and Fleetwood is withdrawing the draft resolution proposed for the November 2022 ballot.

The pause will give the city more time to expand support for the measure and include more specifics about what would be funded.
