BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University track & field senior Jasmine McMullin has qualified to compete in the triple jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships, as the championships fields were announced Tuesday.
McMullin (Sequim, WA) enters the indoor championships with the 5th-best triple jump mark in all of NCAA Division II during the season. Her personal-best leap (12.68m/41-7 ¼) was set in winning the event at the GNAC Indoor Championships to become a three-time conference indoor triple jump champion. The effort, an NCAA Division II automatic-qualifying mark, set the conference record, conference championships meet record and broke her own school record.
McMullin will make her second trip to the indoor championships after earning Second Team U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America honors with an 11th-place finish in the triple jump at the 2016 indoor championships. She did not compete during the 2017 indoor season, utilizing her redshirt season.
The NCAA Division II Indoor Championships will be held at the Robert W. Plaster Center on March 9-10 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Pittsburg State University and the Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts.
The women’s triple jump is scheduled to occur at 1:30 pm PT/3:30 pm CT on Saturday, March 10. Heat sheets will be announced on Monday and a live results link will also be made available. Fans can visit the NCAA Division II National Championships page to access meet links.
McMullin was honored as a USTFCCCA All-West Region performer in the triple jump and long jump as one of eight Vikings recognized as All-West Region honorees for the 2018 indoor season, announced Monday.
Prior to the indoor national championships, WWU begins the outdoor season on Saturday at the University of Puget Sound Ed Boitano Invitational.
