VANCOUVER, Wash. — Clark County declared a public health emergency as the number of confirmed measles cases rose to 21.

KOMO reports the majority of the cases are children under the age of 10 who had not been vaccinated against the highly contagious viral illness.

More cases are likely after people may have been exposed at nearly 30 locations in southwest Washington and Portland.

Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and rash.

If you think you have the measles, call your healthcare provider before going in so they can limit exposure.
