Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett and his wife, Pele are joining a social cause. According to Seahawks.com, The Bennett Foundation will partner with the African global movement iamtheCODE to get 100 marginalized girls in Africa into S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) programs.
Bennett posted a link explaining what iamthecode is on Twitter. The 7th year pro wrote, “I’m excited to partner with @i_amthecode to keep pushing women’s equality domestically n overseas by creating more steam programs in Africa.”

iamtheCode self describes their organization as the first African-led Global movement to mobilize government, business and investors to advance #STEM education by enabling 1-million women and girls coders by the year 2030.

Bennett and his brother Martellus Bennett, now a tight end for the Green Bay Packers, were honored for their off-field work during Sunday’s BET Awards show. The two received the Shine a Light Award sponsored by My Black is Beautiful, in recognition of their philanthropic endeavors.
