FERNDALE, Wash. — A full-scale emergency preparedness exercise, deemed “Operation Yellow Rhino,” is set for Tuesday in the Custer area where residents may see a school bus on its side and police activity.
The Ferndale School District will hold the multi-agency drill Tuesday between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM at Signature Plastics on Custer School Road. Heston Towing will set up the mock school bus accident on Monday afternoon.
Organizers say the exercise is to build relationships and communication, test the district’s Incident Command System and provide practice for bus drivers, hospital personnel and Public Information Officers.
Expect to see activity between Custer and PeaceHealth Saint Joseph Medical Center during the exercise.
