BELLINGHAM, Wash. — More COVID-19 positives have been identified at the Whatcom County Jail Work Center.
As of yesterday, there have been a total of 34 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the minimum-security Work Center facility in Bellingham.
Whatcom County Health Department Director Erika Lautenbach says they’ve been working closely with the Sheriff’s Office to keep people distanced and on other measures, such as testing twice a week and transferring inmates to the isolation and quarantine facility when necessary.
The Sheriff’s Office says offenders who have tested positive are showing mild symptoms, are isolated with the other positive COVID-19 offenders, and are receiving medical care.
One offender has been released and is in quarantine.
