Days after the Bellingham City Council approved an emergency ordinance allowing religious organizations to setup temporary tent cities, Mount Vernon has made a similar ordinance there permanent.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports the Mount Vernon City Council approved an interim ordinance in January 2017 and voted to make it permanent on Wednesday.
At this point, the ordinance does not allow children at these camps, but the council said they plan to look at the issue again soon.
