MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — A fire at a Mount Vernon farm killed nearly 14,000 chickens that were about two weeks old.
Draper Valley Farms spokesman Bill See told The Skagit Valley Herald that the fire started in one of the farm’s chicken houses Monday evening.
The Mount Vernon Fire Chief says it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control because of difficulty accessing the structure.
Crews are investigating what caused the fire.
