MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – Mount Vernon’s mayor has declared an emergency for the city due to the rising Skagit River.
Crews have deployed flood walls and river walks and parks are closed.
The notice says the city will close the Westside Bridge on Division Street if the river reaches 35′.
The Skagit is forecast to crest at over 37′ in Mount Vernon this morning.
There have been numerous people stranded along the river.
The town of Hamilton was largely evacuated on Sunday.
