MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A Mount Vernon woman accused of plotting to kill her ex-husband last summer now faces another charge.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports 37-year-old Vanessa Valdiglesias-Lavelle was accused in July of trying to convince one of her young children to poison her ex-husband, the child’s father.
Valdiglesias-Lavelle was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder in July.
On Friday, she pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of solicitation to commit assault in the first degree with a noxious substance.
Court documents say Mount Vernon police received a report in June about a conversation the 11-year-old boy had recorded with his mother in which she can allegedly be heard telling the boy to tamper with his father’s food or drink.
Valdiglesias-Lavalle is being held in Skagit County jail on $100,000 bail.
