Mt Baker Highway down to single lane

The Mount Baker Highway will be reduced to a single lane starting Dec.15 for emergency bank stabilization.

Wet weather has created instability in the slopes along the highway close to Glacier. With more winter weather ahead Department of Transportation crews hope to repair the area and prevent further damages.

Traffic will alternate through the open lane around the clock, with the use of flaggers. Drivers should account for delayed traffic to the ski resort. Travelers not going to the ski area should consider alternative routes.
