GLACIER, Wash. — In preparation for winter, National Forest staff are removing signs and services on Mount Baker Highway.
The Washington State Department of Transportation says the road is still open for now, but the popular viewpoint area and the last few miles of the highway will be bare.
Last year, DOT crews closed the gate on October 9.
The road to #ArtistPoint – the final 2.7 miles of SR 542/Mount Baker Hwy – remains open for the season. However, @MtBakerSnoNF has started to remove signs & services in preparation for winter. If you're headed up, you'll need to pack your trash out & know TP could be limited. pic.twitter.com/m68BJ6vj4V
