BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Four Western Washington University athletes face indecent exposure charges for running naked on campus.

The Western Front reports a University Police officer cited the men after witnesses identified them as the four seen running naked on campus on January 19th.

The men were apologetic and said they ran naked in the 40 degree weather on a dare.

Western spokesman Paul Cocke tells the newspaper that the four have been suspended from the school track team pending the determination of student conduct reviews.

The school has experienced a number of indecent exposure incidents in which people felt threatened over the past several years.

Cocke says it’s a false rumor that Western Washington University is a “clothing optional” campus.
