Saline bag supplies are running low at St. Joseph’s and in hospitals across the country.

KOMO news reports that saline bags have been in short supply since 2014, but are now plummeting due to the recent hurricanes.

“What we do have plenty of is the one liter bags. We’re in the process of creating the small volume bags out of the larger volume bags,” said Beverly Mayhew, the Communications Director for Peace Health.

The saline plant was hit by the devastating hurricane that swept across Puerto Rico earlier this year.

Mayhew said there has been absolutely no negative impact on patients because of the shortage.
