BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The National Science Foundation is awarding Whatcom Community College nearly $5 million in grants to go toward science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) studies and cybersecurity training.
The largest of the grants, $3.6 million, will provide local scholarships for 25 veterans or students with prior bachelor’s degrees looking to advance in cybersecurity fields.
The money from the other smaller grants will fund more STEM projects for the college.
WCC reports that they are the first community college to receive the National Science Foundation’s CyberCorps Scholarship for Service grant.
