OAK HARBOR, Wash. — Naval Air Station Whidbey Island was busy this Memorial Day weekend as their Search and Rescue teams rescued three people.
Friday, crews faced challenging and dangerous conditions when they rappelled down to save a woman hiking on Goat Wall near Winthrop after she suffered a bad compound ankle fracture.
A hiker who fell into a crevasse in the Olympic Mountains near Quilcene Sunday morning was taken to Harborview Medical Center, along with a man rescued in Olympic National Park Monday as he suffered from possible sepsis.
NAS Search and Rescue teams have now conducted 13 missions throughout the state so far this year.
