VANCOUVER, British Columbia – If you end up in a long Whatcom County northbound border line up this weekend, it may have to do with Canada Day Saturday.
This year’s celebration marks the sesquicentennial anniversary of the confederation of Canada.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are touring the eastern part of the country today, while some indigenous peoples are opposing the celebration, saying it ignores 10,000 years of their history.
Vancouver’s traditional fireworks celebration is set for 9pm Saturday at Stanley park.
Some revelers will take part in a “quiet disco” at the Vancouver Art Gallery– where people dance to their own tunes, together, but silently with their headphones on.
It is billed as the rowdiest, quietest event of the Canada Day celebrations.
