A tool that could warn you about an earthquake before the ground starts shaking under your feet is now available in Washington.

The MyShake App, which has been used for early earthquake detection in other West Coast states since 2019, went online in Washington on Wednesday, January 26th.

An alert is sent out to residents if a magnitude 4.5 earthquake or higher is detected.

The app is free to download on the Google Play or Apple’s App Store.
