OLYMPIA, WASH. – State lawmakers pass a bill favored by Whatcom County prosecutor Dave McEachran.
The bill would extend the statute of limitations for attempted murder from three to 10 years.
McEachran’s office is still investigating a 2014 attack on a Ferndale woman in her home as a possible murder-for-hire plot.
The woman survived but her attacker later killed himself.
The Bellingham Herald reports that without the change in the law, the statute of limitations would have run out on the case next week.
