OLYMPIA, Wash. — The 40th State House District will have a new representative in Olympia Monday.
The Whatcom County Council will hold a joint session with the San Juan County Council and the Skagit Board of County Commissioners to select a replacement for Jeff Morris, who’s retiring after representing the district for 22 years.
The three finalists chosen by Democratic district precinct officers are Bellingham City Council member Michael Lilliquist, Bellingham community activist and former candidate Alex Ramel and Mount Vernon Schools employee and Western Washington University alum Marco Morales.
Councilmembers and commissioners will pick Morris’ replacement after taking questions from the finalists.
The meeting is at 1 p.m. at the Skagit Commissioners Hearing Room in Mount Vernon.
