BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Port of Bellingham Shipping Terminal modernization project has reached a new milestone with the arrival of a new Harbor Crane.
The “Libeherr” brand crane is mobile, has a 120 metric ton capacity, and has a 157 foot reach.
After arrival and certification, the Harbor Crane will be used in a new barge service between Bellingham and San Diego, targeting forest products southbound, and repositioning empty containers northbound along “America’s Marine Highway”.
The 817,915-pound crane was shipped by barge from California to Bellingham after it was declared surplus by the US Maritime Administration.
