OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A new state law accidentally banned state prisons from collecting inmates’ fingerprints.

The law was supposed to limit the collection of biometric data including retinal scans.

The News Tribune reports Governor Inslee signed a new bill into law to fix the error.

The earlier bill made an exception for law enforcement agencies, but not for the Department of Corrections.
