OLYMPIA, Wash. – We go back to wearing masks while in public indoor spaces again Monday, August 23rd, as the governor’s order goes into effect.

“We should not shut down our economy again. We should not shut down our schools again,” says Inslee. “Instead, we are going to keep saving lives by using the effective tools at our disposal.”

The masking rule applies to everyone regardless of vaccination status.

Inslee made the announcement last week along with a requirement that all school employees, public and private, get vaccinated as a condition of employment.

The move comes as Washington and most of the nation see a fifth wave of COVID-19 cases due to the more infectious delta variant.
