OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Vulnerable adults would be better protected against financial exploitation and neglect under a bill the legislature approved.
It creates a new crime of theft against adults who are mentally or physically unable to care for themselves.
It would also create harsher penalties and extend the statute of limitations.
The governor is expected to sign the bill soon.
