BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Whatcom County man convicted of manslaughter gets a new trial.
William Smith stabbed Jeremy McClellan to death in 2015.
He claims it was in self-defense, but the Whatcom Superior Court jury wasn’t told that he could make that argument.
That’s why the State Court of Appeals threw out the conviction and ordered a new trial.
